History
Originally from Somerset in the UK, company founder, Will Thorne first arrived in NZ at the end of 2001 aboard Larry Ellisons (Oracle) yacht Katana in preparation for the Louis Vuitton and Americas Cup – eventually won by Alinghi.
Will was later joined by his fiancee, Clare, who had taken a year off from her job in the UK, planning to come for a holiday. By the time Oracle were knocked out of the competition, they were already in love with NZ and decided to change their plans and make a new home. Having previously worked in the irrigation industry in the UK for two years, coupled with Auckland’s relentless summers, the idea for Auckland Irrigation was born.
The company now consists of Will, Clare and Kayne Cash and we usually take on a student or two for the busy summer periods.
